The accompanying persons may participate at a number of excursions organized throughout the week of the conference to explore the history, culture, architecture, and landscape of the region around Braunschweig.

Tour 1, Monday, June 13, 2016
Guided historical city walk through Braunschweig, minimum 20 persons, € 25*
Braunschweig was founded approximately 1000 years ago. Henry the Lion expanded the city and made it his residence in 1142. Medieval buildings and modern architecture bear testimony to the eventful history of the city and highlight its cultural and economic importance. This tour leads you from the Burgplatz (castle square) with Braunschweig’s landmark lion, via Dankwarderode Castle and the St. Blasii Cathedral to the city center. There, on the Altstadtmarkt, you can see the Gewandhaus (cloth hall), the old town hall, the Martini Church and the Marien Fountain. This is an exciting tour through Braunschweig that shows the city from its best side. The historical city walk will culminate in one of the regional restaurants.. Each participant will receive a present that is typical of Braunschweig.
Tour 2, Tuesday, June 14, 2016
Trip to the imperial city of Goslar, including a 50-minute bus transfer, minimum 20 persons, € 75*
This trip will give you an impression of the past importance of the former imperial city Goslar. The tour will start at the “Kaiserpfalz”, Goslar’s Imperial Palace. The Kaiserpfalz was built between 1040 and 1050 during the reign of Heinrich III and is a unique example of secular architecture. German and European history was made here for more than 200 hundred years. After lunch in a historic restaurant we will take a guided tour through the ancient streets of Goslar and look at the beautiful houses and churches, each of which has its own story to tell. Our last stop will be to the reproduction of the “Huldigungssaal”, the hall of obeisance. The original, a jewel of late Gothic interior decoration, is now no longer open to the public.
Tour 3, Wednesday, June 15, 2016
Trip to the Volkswagen “Autostadt“ in Wolfsburg. This includes a 40-minute bus transfer, minimum 20 persons, € 75*
The Volkswagen adventure tour will give you an exclusive look at the architecture, events and attractions of the Autostadt. The center of the Autostadt is the KonzernWelt from which you will be able to experience the different brand worlds that belong to the Volkswagen Group. After the tour the participants are welcome to have lunch in one of the Autostadt’s restaurants. .

*Please note that lunch is not included.
